Jacob

Jacob Franklin Lehmkuhl
Owner/General Manager

Jacob co-founded OBAY Moving & Courier LLC with his wife Chelsey in the late summer of 2017.  Both natives of Sterling, they seized an opportunity to move back to the community they were raised in to open a business.  After market research, start-up cost evaluation and listening to community needs, they purchased their first moving truck off a popular bidding website and traveled to Illinois to bring it back to Sterling in order to begin providing moving services. In the beginning, Jacob traveled to the Front Range weekly just to book enough jobs to get by.  Over time, OBAY Moving gained the trust of and got the word out to Sterling, Fort Morgan and the surrounding communities of Northeast Colorado.  Today, that market represents the majority of business they do and they still rely heavily on word of mouth advertising.  Jacob says that he has learned a lot along the way but listening to customers' needs-a skill he attributes to watching his father run a small business-is still the most important part of making a business successful.  Jacob and Chelsey have two daughters and a son.  They enjoy boating, camping, hiking and enjoying the great geography we are blessed with in the state of Colorado.  Jacob enjoys creating, whether that be music, basketball or home improvement projects in his free time.  He thanks his family for their sacrifices made in order to start a small business and all the guidance and support he has received in particular from his wife Chelsey, his brother John, his parents John and Rose and his in-laws Mark and the late Carrie Bauder.

Alex

Alexander Raine Werhan
Driver/Crew Leader

Alex chose a time of unexpected turmoil to join OBAY Moving & Courier LLC.  He was hired to be our full time driver near the end of February 2020 and just as he was getting his feet wet in the industry, a global pandemic struck.  Although this was an uncertain time for everyone, Alex has maintained a positive attitude and proven to be a quick learner, while gaining valuable experience.  Alex came over to OBAY Moving after driving for a local taxi service.  So, although he was new to moving, he is an experienced commercial driver that knows how to safely transport items (whether that be people's household goods or people themselves) from point A to point B.  Alex has now completed hundreds of moves and has become a vital part of OBAY.  He is very knowledgeable in discovering the best approach to moving difficult items, assembling and disassembling furniture as needed and always a safe and attentive driver.
